When you have important information displayed on your screen that you don't want to forget or if you want to send a bug report regarding an application to the technical department, a screen capture is a very good idea. The Windows operating system allows capturing the desktop using the Print Screen button on the keyboard but that's a time consuming and difficult method, because only the complete desktop can be captured and not a certain area of it and also the captured image is saved into clipboard and not as a file. Fortunately, there's an alternative to this and that's ScreeHunter. It's a software that does what the Windows capturing utility doesn't do, it captures only a region of the desktop or an active window and can also save the result as an image file, directly.

ScreenHunter installs very fast and takes up very little disk space and also fewer system resources than other capturing utilities available on the market. It supports every version of the Microsoft Windows operating system.

The interface is neat and has a pleasant graphical form, featuring big intuitive buttons. The software allows the user to select what he wants to capture, for example the whole desktop, a certain region of it or an active window. He can also setup a hot key for completing this action.

After hitting the hot key or the capturing button from the interface, the user will get an image file of the captured area and he will also have it in the clipboard. The software allows selecting where the captured screen will be saved, in the clipboard, in a file or in both of them. The graphical file format can be chosen and also the quality of it. In case the user wants to capture only a region of the desktop, a magnifying glass is displayed on the screen, for a more precise capturing.

The user has complete control over the file name, as he can set ScreenHunter to automatically name the image file according to the current date and time or he can add a name for it manually. The program features some options for configuring the functionality, like choosing to display a text message or play a sound after the capture is complete.
